2013 CASCTWAS Symposium on Green Technology has been successfully closed

2013 CAS-TWAS Symposium on Green Technology (SGT2013) has been successfully held in Beijing, China on October 20-23, 2013. This symposium is organized by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), Institute of Process Engineering (IPE) and hosted by CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Green Technology (CEGT). The Program Manager, Ms. Kai Fengfrom Division of International Organization Programmes, Bureau of International Cooperation, CAS, was present at the opening ceremony and made a welcome address. Director General of Institute of Process Engineering, CAS. Prof. Suojiang Zhang, acted as the chairman of the symposium and hosted the opening ceremony.
The main theme of this symposium is Frontier of Green Technology in Chemistry and Engineering. This symposium has attracted more than 200 academics and experts, who come from the developing countries of Indonesia, Thailand, Nigeria, Ukraine, Pakistan, India, Sudan, Iran, Colombia, China and the developed countries of USA, Republic of Korea and Japan. There are 11 leading experts have given the plenary lectures, such as Prof. Robin D. Rogers from University of Alabama, USA, Prof. Yong-Mook Kang from Dongguk University, Republic of Korea, Prof. Santanu Bhattacharya from Indian Institute of Science, India, Prof. Youquan Deng from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS, China, Prof. Buxing Han from Institute of Chemistry, CAS, China. The representatives have conducted the in-depth discussion on the key scientific problems in the fields of Green Solvents & Reactions, Renewable Energy, Environment Friendly Process Engineering, Chemicals & Materials and Separation Intensification. 
The Special Workshop for Female Scientists has also been conducted during the symposium. The workshop has attracted the female scientists who acted as members of Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) from the developing countries of Nigeria, Ukraine, Sudan, and China. They have conducted the in-depth discussion on how to further improving the influence of female scientists on the field of scientific research based on their personal research fields.
This symposium not only provides a good platform for researchers from the developing countries in the fields of green technology to exchange ideas, to present new findings, and to further study, but also lays the foundation for the international collaboration in the field of green technology among the developing countries.
